One of the questions the choas of the first two weeks of training camp forces you to ask is ‘why am I here’. At that time my answer was I’m here to spread the Gospel and uplift people in a Godly manner. Even if that ment only impacting one person it was all worth it. There has been so many opportunities to share the life of christ this far. One of the unique things about moving around a bunch if different ministries is it forces you to ask this question each time. What is God doing here, what role does the Lord have me here for, how can I impact the people here the best way possible, what should me goals here be?
Going into the first ministry at cambodia with PCL at first it was difficult to see the impact we had. And God taught our team what it looks like to serve people, ministry, and God’s kingdom by supporting from the bottom. Our roles at PCL give us the opportunity to care for the staff that sacrifices to do ministry there year round. To uplift them, encourage them, give them rest. To share Christ with our actions, attitude, and smiles to students who don’t understand 99 percent of what we say. We are building the kingdom by supporting the missionaries.
This week there is no school so we are joining one of the girl teams who are doing ministry in the villages. The girls have been serving different villages by teaching English to the kids and helping out the community. Yesterday, was the first day we worked with them it it posed to me similar questions. The people in the villages know no English and asides from the missionaries we were working with there is no way for us to directly share the Gospel. So what is the purpose? The purpose is to share joy, teach English, help out the missionaries, radiate Christ in all that we do because that surpasses language barriers. Mathew 5:14-16.
It makes me ask the question does the church as a church do this well. Our team has met a couple different people during our ATL days ( days where we do evangelism and Ask The Lord to show us where to go ) who have “church hurt” because of people who say they are Christians but their faith shows in no ways. So what is the solution? Discipleship.
We are told in scripture to go and make disciples of all nations. Not converters who say they are Christians but have no faith. This is supposed to happen where you are right now. Not just over seas. How are we fostering and growing the the body of Christ through discipleship?
I’ve been confronted with this question in terms of my own team and squad. Many of them are very new to faith and someone them are unsure of what their relationship with Christ should look like after the WR. God has put me in a place where I am able to disciple my teammates so when they go back home they are equipped to run the race of faith with perseverance, to not cause church hurt but be a person who heals it, a person who multiplies himself as he disciples.
I ask you to pray for my squad as they support ministries and as they grow in their faith, the Holy Spirit will be working in their hearts to become disciples of Christ their entire lives. I can disciple all I want but if God is not working in them then it is useless.
I am praying for your faith as well, that the Holy Spirit will bring convictions to your heart and guide you into a closer relationship with the father! God bless!!!
Great thoughts, questions, and insights! Praying for you and rejoicing for all that God is working in and through you! I can’t wait to hear more.
